Photo of the Week – My Knight in Shining Armor!

My knight in shining armorDuring my first ever journey across Spain on the Camino de Santiago, I happened to meet this gentleman. I admit at first, when I saw him from afar, I wondered exactly who he was. Was he an actor for a play, was he just dressed up for fun?  It was a pretty warm day and his horse was quite friendly, so I gave it my apple. We spoke for a while, and he told me he likes to dress up and take pictures with the pilgrims. He then offered to pose for me, and I was very particular since I was trying to get the sun to shine just right on his sword. He was very patient with me (likely due to the fact I took notice of his horse) and I ended up with this GREAT photo!

It’s one that never ceases to make me smile! So, ladies, there are knights in shining armor out there!

Ha! there’s the spirit of life! I love that he does this and gets into character… Great photo too, the reflection off his sword makes it magical.
Now where can I find my night and shining armor? hmmmm…

This is a fun story and so rare to have this happen! Yes, the sun on his sword is the best shot.

Hi Debbie, be aware of your surroundings, sometimes we are looking way far out to see what surrounds us.

That is a pretty great shot with the sword I admit. I am not sure I could have gotten the right angle there. But it’s so perfect with the way the sun shines. So great.

Well, it’s not every day you get to meet a knight in shining armor! My husband and kids all walked the Camino and none of them ran into one!

Hi Lois, During my other camino journeys, I never found him again. Perhaps he was a seasonal knight! Thanks for your comments! Do you intend to do the Camino at some point?

It took a few tries to get the sun just right, but he was a great sport about it. Thanks for your comments
