Photo of the Week – Creativity Takes Courage

puppet, tigre, art, market, Buenos Aires, One of the many definitions of art states “the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.” This art piece provoked many emotions, and still does each time I see it.

I recognize that there are many types of art, and often we can see the same art piece and have totally different reactions to it. I first glanced at this puppet I thought of the likeness to Mike Jagger (and I say this with the utmost respect) of the “Old is the New Young” type look to her smile, and of a beautiful but slightly scary overall look. Some worded that the art piece was ugly, and just as many gushed over it. I wanted to share a photo that seems to draw a lot of emotion, and this one makes my head spin.

The creator wasn’t at the shop the day I walked around, and I’d really like to thank him and give him credit for his work! In October of 2010, he had a stall back in Tigre, a big market area in Buenos Aires. If you recognize this art piece and know the artist, please let me know.

What comes to mind when you saw this picture? Did you laugh, did you wonder what this is? Was your first impression your last impression or are you seeing this art piece differently with each view? I’d really appreciate hearing from you!
